PR and media activities

Public relations can include something as simple as erecting a banner at the site where Rotary raffle tickets are being sold, or helping out with a sausage sizzle at another organisation's event. Don't forget to erect your banner at the sausage sizzle.

Rotary Public Relations does not exist on its own. In your community, or district, there will be many people carrying out public relations and media activities. Work with them as much as possible.

Media contact will involve Rotarians in issuing media alerts, writing media releases and acting as an interviewee. It is best to appoint a dedicated spokesperson for each project, who can be quoted in media releases and who will act as interviewee.

See Steps to follow in issuing a media release on page 17 of the District 9600 Public Relations Manual, downloadable from this site. The Manual also contains guidelines for Media Release Structure (page 18), Media Alert (page 21) and  Media Interview Structure  The Journey (Page 22)  OR all the guidelines are included in the PR and media document downloadable from this site.
